I am new to RMN. I am so very confused after reading your posting. And to be honest, a little scared.

What can I do to protect myself and my family financially? We make good money, but like most, we also live paycheck to paycheck.

First of all, remember that the name of this site is "Rumor Mill News", with the accent on "Rumor". A lot things are posted here which turn out to be exaggerated, or overblown, or misinformed, or from sources with various degrees of unreliability. One always needs to use the filter one's own intuition and common sense.

The problem is, many of us see that there's something wrong with our government, our media, our economy, and the world situation in general. The question is, if the media are part of the problem, where do we get reliable information?

Alternative sites like RMN provide a lot of sometimes contradictory information to sift through. Don't focus on any one piece and get all worried about it. Just mentally store away for future reference items which catch your eye, and use them at least to judge the degree to which information from the mainstream media may be misleading or incomplete or outright lies

as the case may be.

Readers sometimes send me information that seems worth posting for evaluation by other readers, even if I do not fully buy into the information myself, because I don't pretend to have a lock on what is going on the world either.

Pick everything you read apart carefully, contrast it with other things you encounter, and follow the advice of my favorite three word review of B movies, "Save the pieces".
