The Revelation Of Ogmios, The Great Leader Foretold Centuries Ago By The French Seer Nostradamus

Edgar Leoni provided a complete translation -- with footnotes included -- of The Prophecies of Nostradamus in 1961. This title was given to the 1982 republication, with commentary on Michel de Nostredame and his life, and information about his son, Cesar. Nostradamus was both a physician and an astrologer and he was well-liked by the ruling family of France at that time. He spoke or understood French, Provencal, Hebrew and Latin and some Greek.

Century V ~ Quatrain 80

Ogmios will approach great Byzantium,
The Barbaric League will be driven out:
Of the two laws the heathen one will give way,
Barbarian and Frank in perpetual strife.

Leoni describes Ogmios as The Celtic Hercules, who also had -- apparently -- some of the powers and traits of Mercury. "Frank" was also another way of saying "freeman" in French. In the mythology of Hercules, he is almost always described as being free, and a man of both woman and a god. So, too, is Hercules assigned a conscience and a concern for justice. He was a hero, but a pagan hero. Nostradamus indicates as much in this Quatrain, using a derivation of ethnicus or heathen.

Byzantium is mostly thought of as being the name of the Eastern Roman Empire. and Christian, until it eventually fell under the control of the rising strength of Turkish Islam. Thus, it was always more than just a city-state conquered by the Turks.

For centuries both before and after the mid-1500s, the Islamic Turks spoke of Christians as being heathens and Christians thought of these Turks as being pagans, yet both of these powerful groups believed in a singular and all-mighty God.
