While the media and the government often claim that weather modification through geoengineering and chemtrails are the stuff of ‘conspiracy theories’, US scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Chemical Sciences Laboratory are working on a new kind of global alarm system that can detect if another country, or an adventurous billionaire, tries to dim the sun and tamper with the Earth’s thermostat. Balloons to detect geoengineering are launched 17 miles into the sky every few weeks in Boulder, Colorado and also, with less frequency, in Alaska, Hawaii and New Zealand; Reunion Island, near the coast of Africa; and even Antarctica. Both NOAA and NASA have satellites that can detect large quantities of aerosols in the atmosphere but they can’t pick up smaller amounts. The balloons carry a device measures tiny airborne particles, or aerosols.

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque is working on how to identify the location of an aerosol release. The lab is operated by a subsidiary of Honeywell International under contract with the Department of Energy.
