I already posted a link along these lines from a reader, and it would be a relief if this is all it is, and one point in favor of this is that the seeds appear to be of many different types, including some that definitely appear to be pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds (see pics below). But I still think I would burn them, or at least heat them to 500 degrees, if we received any.

The packages I have seen pics of all seem to have the same phone number in the return address, 17727556512, which could either be a US number (1-772-755-6512), or a Chinese cell phone number (177-2755-6512). I tried to persuade Mrs.Fusion, who speaks Chinese, to call the number using the Chinese prefix 01186, but she refused. I see one online report that someone received a no-message call from the US version:

The mysterious, unsolicited packages of seeds supposedly being sent from China to homes across America – prompting agriculture departments in at least 31 states to issue warnings against planting them – may be tied to a fake product review scam, police and officials are saying.

The packages, based on photographs and statements from officials, appear to have been shipped by China's state-owned postal company and contain Chinese lettering on the exterior, advertising products ranging from jewelry to toys.
