Wikipedia has reported the passing of jazz trumpeter, composer and actor, Lew Soloff, on March 8 apparently of a heart attack. He was 71.

Soloff was well-known in music circles, having performed with a variety of artists and big bands over the years, but perhaps is most widely known for being part of Blood, Sweat & Tears from 1968 till 1973, playing trumpet, flugelhorn and piccolo trumpet.
