Once upon a time a consciousness came into being. He looked around and saw interesting and challenging things to do, to learn. So he decided to stay and see what life was all about. His name was Ed.

Ed grew in intelligence. His capacity to take information and create, increased, and so did his joy in living. However, one morning when he woke up, everything disappeared. He was alone in a space that had nothing in it. There was nothing to do. All he had was the information he had gathered and his personal experiences to draw from. So he began imagining things.

He imagined a chair, a really nice chair, and sat on it. Then he imagined a table with a big breakfast on it. So he ate it. Then imagining himself being full, he looked around at the nothingness of his predicament and imagined a house around him. He imagined it in detail. After a little time he went outside. There was nothing there, so he imagined a porch, sidewalk, grass and trees. In his driveway he imagined a car, a really nice car, and he got in it and drove up the imagined street.

“What shall I do?” He asked himself. He heard a voice in his head ask, “What do you want to do?” He paused a moment, and then said, “All I can do is take what I know and rearrange it, so I guess I’ll go on a road trip.”

Ed went on a road trip. Since nothing was there, he imagined everything that he had learned and he created a complex structure of roads, hills, trees, a blue sky, cities and all kinds of other people driving vehicles. After awhile he stopped at a store and talked to people. They talked back and he had a really good time. Later in the day he got tired and stopped at a motel and went to sleep. The next morning he woke up and was back in his bed at home and everything was back to normal. And he was bored.

So Ed imagined himself walking down a dark alley and a guy was there and the guy stepped in front of him and demanded money. Ed smiled, and then made the guy disappear, so now Ed was alone in the alley. “Wow!” He thought. “This is cool. I can imagine whatever I want and it’s as real as, well...real.”

Ed sat down and wondered if life was real or just imagination. Suddenly he realized he needed more information, more understanding and that the only way to get them was to have more experiences so that he had more tools for his imagination to work with.

THAT’S LIFE. Life is seeking interesting things to do. You wouldn’t like life if it was boring, not challenging, no adventure, stagnant.

You can imagine a God if you want. A God with a plan. A God with rules and punishment and rewards if you transgress or obey. You can imagine a heaven or a hell, a life hereafter or not. You can imagine whatever you can imagine, whatever you want.

You can imagine that life is mind-games, or that’s real, and that outside your imagination are powers that have authority over you and will determine your destiny based upon your thoughts, words and actions, and that those things are real. You can even call a dream real, for it seems so, and you can call reality real, because it seems so. You can make up all kinds of things in your head and believe them, and they’re real enough, and you’ll run your life with them. You can even assume you know the truth, and that anyone who disagrees with you, is wrong.

Life is amazing, whatever it is, or, whatever you think it is, or, whatever it really is.

What’s the worst that can happen? You live, you screw-up, you get tortured, you get killed, you spend eternity in hell and you can thank the God of love who made it all possible.
