Your Cell Phone is Not Secure - Reported

Cell phones have an IMSI, an international mobile subscriber identity, which can be detected by IMSI catchers and your information or conversation can be listened to in some cases. The maker of the CryptoPhone says these IMSI catchers fool your cell phone into thinking they are a cell phone tower. This may be the same principle the strange, new nameless cell towers operate on. Just who is entitled to receive and relay your cell phone transmissions?!!! Apparently there are rogue persons who are using this espionage to spy on the average caller.

Who would be interested in using this espionage technology? Perhaps gangs, criminals, law enforcement, foreign spies, agents provacateur, and this list goes on. Ever have one of those days when your device just doesn't want to stay on 3G or 4G and keeps switching back to 2G? Some of these catchers may have the capability to fool your device into doing that so the hacking can work.

At any rate it appears this may be what has been causing many of the so-called SWATing attacks where phony 911 calls have been directed to some non-existent emergency at an innocent person's home, etc..
