Mike Cernovich had come upon a considerable number of cringe-worthy tweets by director James Gunn, mostly made in 2008-2011, and drew attention to them on Twitter and asked Disney if they were going to do anything about the matter, noting that Gunn is involved in films intended for younger audiences.

Disney soon responded by firing Gunn from his connection with the Guardians of the Galaxy series of films. It's that firing that has stirred others in the business to enter the fray. See this Yahoo News approach to the issue:

Opening paragraph:

"Marvel’s 'Infinity War' is nothing compared to real-life culture wars. On Friday, Disney fired Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn after prominent members of the white supremacist media exposed several old, offensive tweets that the director had largely long-since deleted."

"Several"...? Dunno how many, but Gunn deleted about 10,000 of them in a short time after Cernovich got going with this. "...long-since deleted"...? No, he deleted them in the past 48 hours. "...white supremacist media"...? Hardly. The whole paragraph should serve well in future classes on "how to spin a story". :)

The article goes on to deride any notion that this is comparable to the canceling of 'Roseanne' (also by Disney) over a single tweet perceived as being racist. In other words, the writer is saying, the Gunn situation was orchestrated by white supremacists but there was no such campaign involved in the cancellation of 'Roseanne'.

Get it? They're effectively implying, "No, it's all about politics; pay no attention to an idea that someone in Hollywood might actually be a pedophile."
