I'm writing this to give you a "heads up" on something that'll be happening soon - but we need a little background first; so please bear with me through several paragraphs, before I actually get to the point of this post.

The traditional Mayan Daykeeping system, and also the recent variant of it devised by Jose Arguelles (the fellow who first announced that the Harmonic Convergence was coming up, about 14 years ago now), known as the Dreamspell Calendar, both include a thing referred to as the "Sacred Tzolk'in".

This is a cycle of 260 days. I'll see if I can find a graphic to include below, but in case I don't - think of 13 columns of 20 rows (making 260 blocks or days), with a solid-colored column in the middle (that's Core Days), flanked by 10-row-single-column chunks on either side, and a sort of overlapping X shape that intersects with all that, and you'll have it. Sort of. :)

Visually it resembles, um, a big ol' asterisk; or perhaps a sunburst; or (more likely) a DNA double helix. Or all the above.

The idea is, there are 20 "solar energies" and 13 "galactic energies", affecting our world (and us) all the time. On any one day, one of the 20 solar, and one of the 13 galactic, energies, will be dominant "in the affairs of human beings".

Understandably, with a system like this, Mayan people tend to be named by the combination of energies present on the day of their arrival on the planet - it's considered the person's "signature" in this sense and is descriptive of how s/he will operate in the world, which skills and talents s/he'll likely have and bring to bear on things, etc.

Okay - that's the background. Today (Friday; Good Friday) is "Kin 100" - the last block of the 5th column, out of 13 columns on the Sacred Tzolk'in.

This means that, Saturday, we begin 5 days of "nothing special" - that will be followed by 10 days in a row of what are known as "galactic activation portal" days.

Afterward: 5 more "nothing special" days. And then, the 20 "Core Days".

I've been watching this for several years now - and here's what I've come to expect from it:

The 10-day stretch of "galactic activation portal" days is a continual "building up" of energies - for me, for other folks I've mentioned this to, and for events in the world, also.

It's useful to be aware of it, because the tendency is to imagine what we're feeling is "our own stuff", and not to recognize that it is something the whole world may be feeling, all at the same time - and not to take it personally.

But also hear this: Sometimes I've seen it happen that the creative pressure builds up for 10 days - and then, during the 5 "nothing special" days, folks blow a gasket. :) Why it doesn't always happen while the pressure's on, I'm not sure.
