AND HIS NAME IS JEALOUS

I went on a little journey last night (March 11, 1999) and visited with Satan at the "prison barrier" that NOW held him fast in his eternal black hole. I asked him to tell me how he did it, how he went about ruining people. I asked him to be specific. I wanted him to tell me in his own words how he was able to ruin so many people. I asked him to keep it simple. He agreed and began to tell me the following story. I did not interrupt him, I let him tell it in his own way.

"Welllllll...," he said in a long drawn out echo, "when I want to ruin a group of people I gain control of their monetary system, which was my invention in the first place, you know. I get my servants to buy up all the banks." He sat back (so to speak) in what appeared to be a move to settle himself more comfortably before he continued. "Then, from a breeding standpoint, I'd select a physical characteristic that all the targets for ruin share in common, like the shape of their eyes, or the size of their nose, or better yet, the color of their skin." He swiped with what looked like his fingers over his own skin which left a streak of pinkish whitish overlaid on his otherwise rusty muddish grayish appearance. It was hard for me to identify what color he was because it changed every time he moved.

He continued, "Then I'd begin my campaign to pump them up. Most have egos just waiting for some hot air. It wouldn't take long before I'd have them believing they were superior because they possessed the physical characteristic that I had selected. I'd get them to believe that the mere fact of being born with that physical characteristic was enough to make them superior." At this point I thought I detected a grin on his face but I cannot say for sure. It's hard to say if he even had a face. Anyway something appeared to grin. I'll leave it at that.

"I'd convince them that they didn't have to do a thing to be superior except be born with the physical characteristic." I swear I heard what sounded like a laugh come out of him but I don't know. It could have been the clanking of the black hole barrier. It was unnerving.

Taking no notice of my discomfort he went on, "The easy part was getting them to believe that anyone without that physical characteristic was their enemy. I'd stir up plenty of fear in them. I would favor my selected ones, the ones I wanted to ruin, by giving them access to credit in my banks. I would deny access to all the others. I'd widened the gap between the groups. I'd make my selected group so special and encourage them to treat the other group like dirt under their feet. I'd reward them for this. I'd get them to believe it was the right thing to do, that anyone not possessing the physical characteristic deserved to be treated this way." At this point the sound of horrific, diabolical laughter buffeted the air with something I can only describe as air guns shooting ping pong balls. I felt pounded by it although it didn't hurt a bit. It was very annoying. It was also very disturbing because I didn't know what he was going to do next. "Go on," I said, hoping to get him back on track.

He gathered himself more or less back together and proceeded. "I promoted and rewarded arrogance in my selected group. I praised them whenever they acted like bullies. I encouraged them to act out against anyone not possessing the glorified physical characteristic. I told them over and over that those without the physical characteristic were jealous of them and wanted to steal their physical characteristic. I sowed the seeds of suspicion and superstition about the ones without the physical characteristic. I cultivated the idea that anyone without the physical characteristic could steal a piece of the physical characteristic just by looking at those who possessed it." Suddenly, something akin to flames shot out of him in the location that I suspected his eyes might be, that's if he had eyes.

"You can see where I'm going with this can't you?" he asked rather politely, startling me.

I gulped. It was such a shock to hear him speak this way. "Uh...I guess... er, I think you better tell me." I did not want to second guess this guy.

He seemed to settle back down again, sort of striking a polite pose to match his polite voice. "By this time the ones marked for ruin were so arrogant, ignorant and mean that everyone hated them and at the same time they were the focus of great envy. I kept a tight lid on this until I saw that the hatred was ready to blow. Then all I had to do was step out of the way and well, you know the rest." He released a roar that took him apart and splattered him all over the barrier of his "hole". In madness he oozed.

"Hey," I shouted, trying to make some sense of the scene I was witnessing, "are you finished?"

He sprung back to form and continued as if nothing had happened. "From the shadows of my bankers," he said calmly, with an edge of what sounded like mirth, "I'd just sit back and enjoy the show." I think I'd have to say that he sounded a bit smug about it.

"Everyone thought I was in it for the money," he said, with what I can only describe as something akin to a ring of sincerity, "but I'm not. I'm in it because I'm JEALOUS! Yes, that's right, I did it because I am jealous. It's all in The Book: 'I am the Lord and I am a jealous god.' People don't have any idea what jealousy is. They think it has to do with what happens when their boyfriend looks at another gal or when their neighbor gets a new lawn mower. Haha. That's what I mean about ignorant. These people are so stupid. They're so easy to fool. They deserve what they get.

"So there you have it," he said in what sounded like the end of our interview, "I ruined them but they were so easy to ruin. They'll never understand who I am until they understand what jealousy is. They'll never know who's behind my harmless little bankers lending worthless paper money. It's a perfect cover don't you think?"

I noticed that he had started to fade to something resembling mush. "Uh...before you go, or rather before I go...er... or before one of us goes," I stammered in a rush, "Please, tell me, in light of your, er... situation, your ... er ... current circumstances, was it worth it?"

A little shade of bright red suddenly flickered for a moment in what might have been the area of his heart, that is if he had a heart. "No," he whispered faintly and was gone, or I was gone. In any case the interview was over.

The first thing I did was rush to my trusty dictionary and look up the word "jealousy".
