Last night the Rumor Mill News Forum was moved from http://www.rumormillnews.com to http://www.rumormillnews.net

This was done due to increased traffic on the Forum which was slowing down the load time for both the Forum and the rest of the website.

The following email was sent to RMNews Agents and Readers who are on the RuMills Egroups mailing list. If you want to join this list, here is the information you will need.

RMNEWS IS BEING UPDATED TONIGHT AND TOMORROW DUE TO INCREASED TRAFFIC!!

TOO MUCH TRAFFIC IS CAUSING PROBLEMS
ON THE RMNEWS FORUM

Because of this, the Forum is getting its own domain name!!
Yesterday many readers were not able to access the Rumor Mill News Forum.

The reason is simple -- there were TOO MANY PEOPLE who wanted to read THE FORUM articles at the same time.

This is wonderful!!! It means that Rumor Mill is finally reaching a larger audience.

Today I spoke with Coast Internet Solutions, (the people who host the webpage), and came up with the least expensive way of handling the problem.

From now on, the Rumor Mill News Forum will have its own domain name. It will be

http://www.rumormillnews.net

Tonight and tomorrow, the Forum is being transferred from the .com to the .net domain.

This is not as simple as it sounds because we have scores of articles from the Forum linked to the front page. It entails the redirection of all the URLs that are on the front page.

I am not updating the front page tonight due to this reason.

Message to All RMNews Agents:

Soon, all Rumor Mill News Agents will be offered their RMNews Forum User Name as an email address. Such as:

zapper@rumormillnews.net

It will be a web based mail service similar to Yahoo.
As soon as all the kinks are worked out -- a notice will be posted.

I want to congratulate all the "Agents" for their excellent job of gathering news for the past few days. Your articles are well written and thought provoking.

As you can see, I take the best articles from the Forum and link them to the Front Page!!

When Rumor Mill News was started in 1996, we decided to give out "RUMEY AWARDS". Sherman Skolnick was the first recipient of the coveted "RUMEY". He won it for his article on the 1996 Democratic Convention titled, "The Furniture Bombs of August."

As soon as I can find the type of poll that will allow readers to vote for their favorite story, I will start issuing the coveted RUMEYS once again.

Now that you know that your articles might end up linked to the front page, and they MIGHT even win the RUMEY AWARD -- Make sure you double check your spelling! Remember, as a RMNews Agent, your work represents all of us!!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN RUMOR MILL NEWS?

There are four different ways - Each has a different focus -

If you want to become a Rumor Mill News Agent and post articles on the RMNews webpage, all you have to do is enter your email address and a password. It will be processed and you will be able to post in a few hours.

There is are three e-mailing lists you can join.

1. The RuMills [RMNews] e-mailing list sends out work that is written by Rumor Mill News or by the Sources who provide us with information. This list also sends out articles from other media sources which document the "themes" about which RMNews has previously written.

2. The RMNews_Forum e-mailing list is designed for people who have
computers that are not capable of accessing the very large Forum page on the
RMNews webpage.

People who sign up for this list will have each new "post" from the Forum
sent to their e-mail boxes. Sometimes there will only be one or two a day.
But other times there are as many as 20, although this is rare.

3. RMNews_Daily_Emails, is a WEB ONLY group. You can request that you
receive emails, but I would not recommend it. This webpage gets 50 or more
emails each day. People say this is the best place for breaking news on
the web - even better than Drudge. You can access this webpage from the
front page of Rumor Mill News - it is labeled RMNews Daily Updates
