Tax Fast: Congress Tells IRS to Send Experts

Subject: [we-the-people-alerts] Congress Tells IRS to Send Experts to Schuz's Tax Conference

Day 17 - Tuesday. Congress Backs Schulz's Demand for IRS Answers.

IRS to Respond to Representative Bartlett's Congressional Request by

Noon, Thursday.

Congressman Roscoe Bartlett (MD) has formally requested the IRS to

identify in writing the specific names and titles of the tax and

legal experts which will be sent by the government, pursuant to

Bartlett's Congressional request, to meet in a public forum with Bob

Schulz and other tax researchers in September. The IRS response to

Rep. Bartlett is due by noon this Thursday.

Bartlett's request was made through the Congressional Liaison Office

which handles formal communications and requests between Congress and

the Executive branch.

Waiving a copy of the Constitution from the podium, Rep. Bartlett

staunchly defended Schulz's 1st Amendment right to be answered in his

petition detailing specific allegations of illegal operations and law

enforcement practices of the IRS.

Rep. Bartlett Asks Schultz to Cease Fast

Schulz responded, "With all due respect, I know my rights. I will

not equivocate. I will not betray my liberty -- even if my Rights

starve me." The fast continues.

Rep. Ron Paul Called to White House for 3 P.M. Meeting.

Representative Ron Paul (TX) and a supporter of Schulz, was called

this morning to an unplanned 3 P.M. meeting. Rep. Paul issued a

statement that was read by an aide at the press conference.

Low Media Turnout

Schulz was disappointed in the level of media turnout. Ironically,

while Schulz's press conference on 1st Amendment rights and IRS

jurisdiction took place, just feet away C-SPAN was broadcasting

a "vigorous" House debate over the critical issue of a flag burning

amendment. Schulz, "questions their priorities." Callers to C-SPAN

voiced largely the same sentiment.

Press Conference Attendees

A good crowd of supporters did converge on the Capitol. Included

were former IRS agent Joe Bannister, employer Nick Jesson (who

recently announced his candidacy for Governor of California) and

leaders of AVIDD, American Veterans in Domestic Defense, headed by

General Ray Davis. Many citizens drove in from states as far away as

Ohio, Alabama and Mississippi for this event.
